The funniest bird encounter in Parque Das Aves near Iguazu falls. It was like a real life Rio movie- Two Hyacinth Macaw was playing with a knife and discovered by the park employee. They were so mad that their escape plan was foiled and went into bickering. Have to paint them 😂😂😂
One year after the bushfire, we visited the Govetts Leap again. Nature’s speed of recovery is amazing! There are still swathes of burned bush here and there, but the whole area is greener than ever. And the bridal veil fall is as beautiful as its name.

During a walk in the Sydney botanic garden, I came across a gang of cockatoos having a great time along the beautiful garden bed with paper daisies in full blossom. It was so funny to see these two birds having a feast right beside the sign of “Please keep off the garden bed”. I just love their cheekiness and had so much fun painting them. I hope the painting brings a smile on your face as well.
Just back from a six-week trip to South America. I found it so funny when I woke up and saw the red light under the TV, my first thought was “oh, crocodile!” Then I realized I was not in Brazil any more and I was a bit disappointed. I never expect this Brazil trip would leave such a huge impact on me. It was like stepping into Zootopia and I’ve never been surrounded by so many wildlife in my life!
And I had the cutest toucan encounter! Not sure why the zipper on my pant pocket is so attractive, this cutie jumped beside me and played with it for quite a while. I was super happy to just stand there and enjoy the magic moment 😍😍😍
Went through the botanic garden in the late afternoon and these flannel flowers caught my attention. The last bit of sunshine lit up the petals, just gorgeous! Have to paint them 😊

I never expect this Brazil trip would leave such a huge impact on me. It was like stepping into Zootopia and I’ve never been surrounded by so many wildlife in my life! Among all the beautiful birds, Hyacinth Macaw is probably my favourite. They are beautiful, they are cheeky, and when they fly, that blue in the sky! They were almost driven to extinction and only a thousand left in the wild once. Thanks to the dedication of many wildlife lovers, we are lucky to be able to see them in the wild again 😍

This must be the inspiration of Avatar! It was mesmerising to watch the red-and-blue macaws flying at Buraco das Araras, a massive geological sinkhole famous for the macaw residents. We were so lucky to even witness a red-and-blue macaw pairing with a blue-and-yellow macaw, which is very rare in the wild. Have to paint these two love birds 😍😍😍

Among all the beautiful birds, Macaw is probably the most amazing with all sorts of crazy colours and yet they work totally fine together. Nature is truly the greatest artist!
Lovely Jacaranda in front of a bright yellow house in the Hunters Hill. Went to see it again and found the jacaranda tree gone. Sometimes I feel I am capturing history, an old house gone, a broken jetty sank, a beautiful tree gone. There is sadness but there is beauty in it.
After delivering a Bondi painting to the eastern suburbs, I decided to go for a walk along the coast. I parked the car and opened the door, this Yellow-tailed black cockatoo was having breakfast right in front of my eyes! What a treat! I always love their yellow cheek patch, but never got the chance to observe so close. The cheeky bird was not camera shy at all, took its time to enjoy the banksia. Unfortunately its partner was annoyed by some noisy miners on the other tree and decided to find a quieter spot. Such a beautiful sight watching them flying over the waves 😍😍😍
